Typical F.E.T. Case Histories

False Teeth - I Smile When I Think About Them Now!

She was 67 years old and had possessed a full set of false teeth for the past ten years.     But, she had never worn them.

I was asked to visit her in her home as she did not like 'going out' as she had to keep a 'straight face' and not smile if she met anyone she knew.

Her house was spotless and homely and her husband one of the nicest people I have ever met.      They obviously adored each other and had been married for more than forty years.     A lovely couple and I really felt I wanted to help her to wear her false teeth and socialize more often.

Her presenting symptoms were that whenever she put her false teeth in, she gagged (felt she was choking).

As with all Hypnotherapists, I looked for clues that would help me decide on the best approach.   So I started by asking her some questions.

The first questions, after the normal Record Sheet details were complete, was 'could she remember an incident in earlier life when she had gagged?'      To my surprise, she immediately told me about a an incident when she was a child, when her sister forced some food into her mouth and tried to get her to swallow it.      She further surprised me by saying that whenever she put her false teeth in, she remembered the incident.

Normally, as a Hypnotherapist, you have to dig, and sometimes dig some more, to get to the root cause of a problem, but here it was presented on a plate (no pun intended), so to speak

So what treatment to offer?   I decided to use my own Fear Elimination Therapy that works very well when the root cause is known.

Let me explain briefly what Fear Elimination Therapy is.

Some time ago I felt inspired to look more deeply into Neuro Linguistic Programming Eye Scan Patterns.   It seemed to me that what was being practiced by most therapists were the original ideas and that there had to some form of improvement to them.   Most works of genius, and I believe N.L.P. is the work of geniuses, there is always something that can be improved upon.

Eye Scan Patterns (how we move our eyes when accessing Unconscious Material) give a great deal of information about the Unconscious Mind.  So why not take that a step further and use the accessing cues of Eye Scan Patterns to resolve the problems associated with some of the Unconscious contents?    I put together a method and the next case history in this e-book tells you more.

Suffice it to say, I used my Fear Elimination Therapy to deal with this wonderful old lady's problem.

This is an extract from her letter of thanks received a few days after her fifteen minute therapy:

"Dear Mr. Shields,    As you know, for the last ten years, I have been unable to wear my false teeth............................... I am delighted to say, that after only fifteen minutes of your therapy, I am now able to wear them normally."   (Click here to see a copy of the original letter)

Stop That Dog Getting Near me or I'll Give it a Hug

Pauline was keen to start her Hypnotherapy course with us and arrived at the course venue very excited and bright eyed.     She really wanted to get into the class room and start her studies, but as was normal, we entertained our students in the lounge with a cup of tea or coffee and a chat before starting.

She sat in one of the large, deep and comfortable chairs and looked relaxed.

However, lying at the side of the chair, out of Pauline's view, was our pet dog.    We had taken the poor thing in as it had been abandoned by some passing Gypsies and although it looked a little ragged still, it had a very soft nature and would not harm a fly.   Unfortunately, Pauline did not know that!

A few moments later, she became aware that there was a dog by her side and jumped up screaming and terrified.      Trembling, she asked for the dog to be removed and stood frozen to the spot.

I apologized profusely to her and asked if she would be willing for me to help her overcome her fears.     She agreed.

Bearing in mind that she had never met me before, I considered her brave to put herself in my hands, and even braver when I asked her to accompany me to one of the bedrooms (the quietest place I could think of).

I asked her if she knew what started her fears and she explained that some years previously, she had witnessed her brother being attacked by a dog and some time later her 6 year old son was the object of an attacking dog.  However, to save her son from serious injury, she intervened and allowed the dog to maul at her instead, giving her son time to escape.

As you can imagine, I had a great respect for her bravery and asked her if she would be willing for me to try out a new therapy I had just put together.   She agreed.

For the first time, I used my Fear Elimination Therapy with her and only minutes later she was able to talk about her original experiences without any signs of distress.

I took her back into the lounge and the dog was still lying at the side of the chair.   Pauline sat in the chair and placed her hand on the dog's head, patting and fondling it and remained there until we left for the lecture room.

I was walking on air and Pauline also.    See picture below.
